Ms. Kokanovic came to the United States from the former Yugoslavia. This transition to a new world has contributed to her becoming an Immigration Attorney.  She received her Bachelor of Arts degree summa cum laude in Business Administration and Marketing with a minor in Economics from Lakeland College, Wisconsin.  She received her Juris Doctor degree from the Indiana University School of Law - Indianapolis in 2005 where she was a lead articles editor for the Indiana International & Comparative Law Review and received the Indiana University International Human Rights Law Distinguished Service Award and Pro Bono Work Recognition.  She is admitted to practice law in the state of Wisconsin and is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin, Milwaukee Bar Association, and the American Bar Association.  Ms. Kokanovic is fluent in Serbian, Croatian and other former Yugoslav languages (native). She also has basic knowledge of French and Latin.

Her professional experience includes positions as an Attorney at Vaughan Cascino Law Offices, Chicago, John Kearns & Associates, Chicago, and the Indiana Counter-Terrorism and Security Council, Indianapolis.  She also served as a Law Intern at Capital Area Immigrants’ Rights Coalition in Washington, D.C.  Prior to law school, she worked for J.P. Morgan Chase (f/n/a Bank One Corporation).  Ms.  Kokanovic's  interests include traveling and playing competitive chess.  She competed twice in the Junior World Chess Championships and is a member of FIDE Chess Federation holding a title of a FIDE Master.
